When someone first sets up their new computer, one of the finest means of personalizing that computer is in selecting the wallpaper and the screen savers for it. I have known people who literally searched for days until something just “struck” them as being perfect for who they are!
Ordinarily, you cannot allow someone else to perform the act of selecting the wallpaper and the screen savers that you will use. You may have decided, for instance, on choosing only those which have a certain color combination, or only those that “tie” to your favorite theme or interests.
Many people consider the act of selecting the wallpaper and the screen savers for their computers to be exceedingly personal. Even if you are related to that person, don’t even try to select it for them. Having found, and using their own will please them much more than if one is “suggested” by another.
Years back it was imperative to have wallpaper and screen savers, as screen savers did just that, they prevented your screen from being burned by an image that remained too long without moving onto another page. Because it was functional rather than personal, many did not attach the importance to selecting the wallpaper and the screen savers to their computer that they do now.
The reason why people use screen savers now is twofold: first, a screen saver is a fantastic to display highly impressive graphics on your computer screen, and secondly it is a technique used to secure your computer should you need to be away from your machine for a period of time.
There are thousands of wallpaper and screen savers available to you free online. Most of them even come with clear directions on how to apply them to your computer. Younger kids seem to like Harry Potter when selecting the wallpaper and the screen savers for their own computers. Older children tend to gravitate to the rock stars and the various rap stars that they listen to. Women seem to gravitate to art, and men like pictures of outer space the most, it seems.
Selecting the wallpaper and the screen savers you want have gotten more difficult now with the advent of actual 3-D selections. For instance one that I recently saw showed a medieval castle that was built high on the rocky crags of a cliff that overlooked the sea. The day darkened and one could see the castle at night then. There are birds that fly about, a waterfall, a moving river as well as the sea whose waves come crashing down on the rocks. It was utterly fascinating!
So, based on that description, you can see how selecting the wallpaper and the screen savers you may wish to use on your computer have become more difficult to decide upon! The ones that used to come with the computer are no longer even interesting any more when you can have a fully lit 3D medieval castle to choose from!
