 Skin Care With Cucumber:

  • Use cucumber to relieve puffiness, swelling, and dark circles under the eyes.  Many people are aware of using cucumber to relieve tired eyes although not everybody knows the best method to do so.  Be sure to wash the cucumber before using, to avoid toxins and dirt getting into the eyes.  Cut cucumber thin enough to be flexible so that it rests directly on the skin surrounding the eyes. Lay back with cucumber on the eyes for 15-20 minutes.  This method has been used since ancient times to relieve tired looking eyes.
  • Cucumber face packs help to moisturize and calm sensitive skin.  Make a simple mask by combining peeled cucumber in a blender with a few mint leaves and an egg white.  The egg in this mask also works to tighten skin.  Leave on the skin for 15-20 minutes before rinsing.
  • Using a toner made with cucumber will help to fight oily skin and acne.  Grate a washed cucumber over a colander and squeeze to release the juices.  Mix equal parts cucumber juice and witch hazel and spritz on the face twice a day, let air dry and then rinse lightly.  Cucumber toners can also be made using cucumber juice and two teaspoons of organic honey, or simply using cucumber and water.
  • Cucumber cream is another cucumber preparation that fights oily skin and acne.  Puree washed cucumber and blend with 2 tablespoons of milk cream and 1-2 drops of rosewater.  A few drops of almond oil can be added to this cream when extra hydration is needed.

With all of these preparations, be sure that your ingredients are clean and fresh before using.  The skin of your face is highly sensitive and will react to impurities and toxins.  These are just a few of the many skin care tips with cucumber.  With these, or any other cucumber remedies, be sure to store leftovers in the refrigerator, where it will last for 2-3 days.
