Aamir Khan, born on 14 March 1965 in Mumbai in India in a conventional Muslim family, is an Indian film artist, director and producer who have recognized him as the foremost actors of Hindi cinema. Aamir primarily came on screen as a child performer at the age of 8 in title song of the film Yadon Ki Barat (1973). Later on he was seen in an art film Holi (1984) with his friend and his director Ashutosh Gowariker, the movie even starred Naseeruddin Shah. Consequently he went on to turn into the state tennis champ of Maharashtra.
A short time before his debut film he fell in love with a young woman in his neighborhood named Reena. Since she was a Hindu and he was from devoted Muslim family, they faced antagonism and thus they married furtively, shortly they discovered it to the globe after his debut movie as lead role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak(QSQT) which was released in 1988 and was a blockbuster and he achieved immediate glory.
Some of his renown films include: Dil (1990), which was a big hit, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991), big hit again, Daulat Ki Jung (1992), which didn’t go that well, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander( 1992), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke( 1993), both were great movies, Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Baazi, Rangeela and Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ishq (1997), Sarfarosh (1999), Dil Chahta Hai(2001), which was on the hit list, Lagaan(2001), Mangal Panday (2005), both showed Aamir’s versitality, Fanaa and Rang De Basanti (2006). The 1998 film Ghulam turned him into a playback singer and the song was, “Aye, kya bolti tu?” His movies Sarfarosh and Earth were rather victorious. Mela, released in 2000, was a fall down.
In 2007 he became a director with the film Taare Zameen Par which brought him vast critical praise and was a gigantic box office hit. His movie Ghajini in 2008 broke many box-office records. In 2009, he appeared in the commercially and highly praised film, 3 Idiots, as Ranchoddas Chanchad. It was a Rajkumar Hirani’s film and became Bollywood’s maximum grossing movie. Opportunely, nearly all his pictures not just became a blockbuster but a few have even been selected for the Oscars.
He divorced his wife Reena in 2001 and married Kiran Rao in 2005 who had been a supporter director to Ashutosh through the filming of Lagaan. Aamir has repute for shunning award ceremonies and the spotlight of the media. He even turned down Madame Tussaud’s propose to commemorate him in a wax statuette.
Aamir Khan will appear in Talaash, releasing in June 2012. He is playing a negative role in YashRaj’s Dhoom-3 opposite Katrina. Currently, Aamir Khan is also hosting a television show Satyamev Jayte which has recently started to come on-air. Because of his diversity and capability to represent diverse characters, he is regarded as not only one of the leading Superstars but even one of the supreme actors of Indian Cinema.
