Top 10 Pakistani All-Rounders of All Time

All rounders are real asset of any cricket team in any form of game and any captain wants to have them in team. Pakistan is blessed with many top all-rounders since early days. Here is the list of top 10 all rounders of all time for Pakistan.

1.       Imran Khan

One of the greatest, if not the greatest all-rounder of all time, Imran Khan is the top Pakistani all rounder ever produced by Pakistan. His bowling and batting records along with his supper leadership qualities are outstanding. He played a major role in mending victories for Pakistan  in 1980s and early 90s. He captained Pakistan to its first and only world cup victory in 1992. He is one of the most popular cricketer in the country.

2.       Wasim Akmram

Wasim Akram was a top bowling all rounder with outstanding record with the ball, who contributed with the bat on many occasions. His all round performance in the world cup 1992 final are still fresh in the memories of many Pakistanis where he swinged the match in Pakistan’s favor on crucial occasions. He is considered one of the finest fast bowlers world have ever seen. He has 4 hat-tricks as a bowler on his record. He holds the record of most number of sixes in an innings (12).

3.       Shahid Khan Afridi

Modern day hard hitting great all rounder, who has excellent record with the bat, ball and fielding. ‘Boom, Boom’ Afridi holds the record of fastest century and most number of sixes ever hit in one day (ODI) cricket. He is equally effective with his leg spin bowling where he uses variety of balls including two well disguised googlies.

4.       Muddasar Nazar

A fine batting all rounder, Muddasar Nazar got many break-through  for Pakistan on important occasions with the ball as well. He won the title of ‘Golden Arms’ for his outstanding performance with the ball at the home of cricket ‘Lords’.  He holds the record of most number of fours in a series and slowest test century ever. He once held the record of the highest partnership for any wicket with Javed Miandad (451).

5.       Wasim Raja

Wasim Raja was an elegant hard-hitting batsman and a useful leg break bowler. His batting was worth watching against fast bowling. Who can forget his performance against the top West Indian fast bowling attack in 1976-77 where he hit a world record number of sixes in a series (14) and scored 517 runs.

6.       Abdur Razzaq

Another modern day hard-hitting bowling all rounder, Abdur Razzaq is equally effective with his accurate line and length bowling skills. He has played many one day international for Pakistan, both with bat and ball with outstanding individual performance. He has unique distinction of batting from number 1 to 11 for Pakistan.

7.       Wasim Bari

Along with his outstanding wicket-keeping skills, Wasim Bari was very capable batsman for Pakistan. He is the best wicket keeper ever produced by Pakistan. His stunning diving catches are still alive in the memories of many Pakistanis. ‘catch Bari, bowled Imran’ was one of the most common phrase in Pakistan cricket in early 80s.

8.       Intikhab Alam

A fine all rounder of 1960s, Intikhab Alam showed good leadership qualities along with his capabilities to bowl leg-break and bat in the middle order. He was the coach of 1992 world cup and 2009 world T20 winning teams.

9.       Mushtaq Mohammad

A very talented batsman and inventor of reverse-sweep, Mushtaq Mohammad was an effective leg-break googly bowler.  He belongs to famous cricketing family in Pakistan where his 3 other brothers represented Pakistan with style. In 1960s and early 70s, he along with Intikhab Alam served the all rounder-department very well.

10.   Asif Iqbal

A fine medium pace bowler and a stylish batsman with proven leadership qualities, Asif Iqbal was an excellent runner between the wickets. He was a handsome player for Pakistan who inspired many youngsters with his all round performances and personality.
