Appetizing Kaleji (Liver) Masala Recipe – Eid ul Adha Food Recipes

Not everyone likes to have liver. Normally it has been found that either people love to have liver or they simply hate it. But to tell you the truth liver is very healthy and carries a lot of health benefits. It is a good source of vitamin A, rich in protein, Rich in vitamin B. At Eid ul Adha, it is mostly a tradition liver on the Eid day and Sunnah as well. Many people cook liver or kaleji in different forms and try different recipes as well. But today in this short write up we are going to share a simple yet very delicious liver masala recipe with you all. Eid is about to come so try this delectable recipe of liver masala and gather appreciation from your guests and family members.


Liver:  1/2 kg cut into small pieces

Yogurt: 1 cup

Cinnamon stick: 3 to 4

Black cardamom: 2 to 3

Oil: 1/2 cup

Coriander powder: 1 tsp heaped

Mace: 1/4 tsp grinded

Ginger slices: 1 tbsp

All spice powder: 1/2 tsp

Chopped coriander leaves:  2 tbsp

Onion: 3 tbsp (brown and grinded)

Salt: 1 tsp or to taste

Green chilies chopped:  1 tbsp

Nutmeg: 1/4 tsp grinded

Chilli powder: 2 tsp

Ginger garlic paste: 3 tsp

Directions To Cook:

The cooking time for liver is quite less as compared to other forms of meat. To cook liver masala, first of all heat oil in a frying pan. Add mixed whole spices and fry. Then add ginger garlic paste, salt, coriander powder and fry well and add 1/4 cup of water. After that add whipped yogurt and brown onion with liver and fry them all for 10 minutes. Lastly add all salt, all spice powder, ground nutmeg and mace and cook a little more and remove from flame. Liver hardly takes 10 minutes to tender so no need to overcook or else it will get hard and it will be hard to chew. As to put it off the flame add chopped coriander leaves and green chilies. Garnish with ginger slices and serve hot with chapatti or naan.
