Eid ul Fitr Recipes: Sheer Khurma Recipe

Many in Asian countries also call Eid ul Fitr “the sweet Eid”. This is so because people serve a lot of sweet dishes and desserts on this occasion. Some of the traditional sweet dishes are an essential part of this holy occasion. Different families have different traditions and they follow their family traditions on this day too. No matter what they serve for the dinner and lunch, a traditional sweet dish is necessary for breakfast or you can say before the breakfast. Today we are sharing one of such recipes with you. You can prepare it on Eid day and enjoy the sweetest moments in your life with your loved ones.


Butter: 2 tablespoons

Vermicelli: 1/4 cup

Sugar: 1/2 cup

Milk: 3 to 4 cups

Chopped dried fruits: 1/4 cup

Raisins: 2 tablespoons

Dates: 2 tablespoons

Cardamom powder: 1/2 teaspoon

Rose water: 2 teaspoon

Cardamom powder: For garnishing

 Method For Cooking:

Take a deep pan and heat the butter. You can even desi ghee if you want to have a bit more traditional taste and smell. Then add the vermicelli and cook until it turns golden brown. After that add the sugar and milk. Cook until the sugar completely dissolves. Now add the dry fruits and raisins. Mix well and allow it to cook on low flame for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the dates, cardamom powder and rose water and simmer for another 2 minutes or so. If the sheer khurma is too thick, add a little hot water and mix gently. Remove from the flame and serve hot or cold it is all up to you and according to your taste. Garnish it with cardamom powder before serving. You can even decorate with almonds or dates or the way you want. Pistachio nuts also give a very good flavor, you can garnish some on the top too.
