Tasty Mutton Kunna Recipe – Eidul Adha Food Recipes

On Eid ul Adha, a lot of mutton and beef recipes are served to the guests and cooked for family members too. A combination of gravy, fired and dry dishes are cooked on this occasion. People try to add new dished to their menus. But some of the traditional ones are always an important part of the Eid menus. One of the traditional recipes is mutton or beef kunna. It is a very delicious main course dish and is loved by many since decades. No matter what such traditional recipes can never be overlooked on such festive occasions when food is an integral part of celebrations. This mouth-watering main course recipe for Mutton Kunna can be prepared in 30 minutes and serves 2-4 people.

Recipe Ingredients

Mutton: 1 kg

Ghee: 1 cup

Water: 1/4 cup

Turmeric: 1/4 tsp

Coriander powder: 1 1/2 tsp

Chopped onions: 1

Ginger garlic paste: 1 tbsp

Black cumin: 3/4 tsp

Wheat flour: 1/2 cup

Chili powder: 3 tsp

Salt: 1 1/2 tsp

Recipe Method

First of all kunna is cooked in an earthen pot. The real taste of kunna comes when it is cooked in an earthen pot. You can cook this dish in a wok or pressure cooker but if you wish to get the real taste of kunna you need to cook it in an earthen pot.  To start cook put 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste mixed with 1/2 cup water, 1 cup ghee, 1 kg mutton, 3 tsp chili powder, 1 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp turmeric and 1 chopped onion and cover with lid and cook for 20 minutes and fry well.  Now add 4 cups of water and cover and cook till meat is tender. As soon the meat is tender add 1/2 cup wheat flour and 1 cup water paste. Stir it well.  Lastly add crushed 3/4 tsp black cumin and cover the lid and cook till ghee comes on top. In the end garnish with green coriander, green chilies and Julian ginger. Serve it with roghni naan or roti.
